How Pop-Up's Work


What Are Pop-Ups?

Pop-Ups are messages that display to the user when your app is opened and cover the entirety of the screen. They are dependent on the user performing a specific action, such as opening the Home Screen.

Managing Pop-Ups

Creating Pop-Ups

  1. Log into the TapWyse Admin Dashboard.
  2. Click the Pop-Ups tile in the middle of the screen.

  3. Click Create at the top-right of the screen.

  4. The ensuing page will walk you through the process of adding a Pop-Up. Fill out each section:
    1. Pop-up Details


        1. Image: Either choose from our library of stock images or drag/drop an image from your computer.
          1. Supports JPG, JPEG, or PNG at 3:2 ratio (i.e., 600 x 400 px)
        2. Add call to action button
          1. Button Text: What the button will say.
          2. Link Type: Choose from the following:
            1. Custom URL
              1. If selected, input any URL to direct the user there when the button is tapped.
            2. Facebook Share
            3. News
            4. Settings Page
            5. Custom Button
              1. Choose any page that has been set up in App Navigation.
            6. Home Screen
        3. Title: The top text of the Pop-Up.
        4. Description: The text below the title.
        5. Notes
          1. Note that there are a variety of options for formatting text at the top of the box. For more information, please view our How The Simple Editor Works article.
    2. How long should the pop-up be live?

      1. Option 1: Between Specific Dates
        1. This option displays a message at all moments within the date/time range when the trigger you set up in step 3 is reached by the user. Make sure the Adjust the days available toggle is disabled for this option.
          1. Active On
            1. The specific date the message should first display in the app.
          2. Active Time
            1. The specific time the message should first display in the app.
          3. Expires On
            1. The specific date the message should disappear from the app.
            2. Notes
              1. If you'd like the Popup to remain indefinitely, leave this field as Never.
          4. Expire Time
            1. The specific time the message should disappear from the app.
            2. Notes
              1. If you'd like the Popup to remain indefinitely, leave this field as Never.
      2. Option 2: On Specific Days Of The Week

        1. This option displays a message on a specific day (or multiple days) of the week in a given time window. For example, a message could be set to display only on Tuesdays from 12-5pm to promote a weekly special at the snack shack. Make sure the Adjust the days available toggle is enabled for this option.
          1. Starts On
            1. The first date the message could display in the app.
          2. Ends On
            1. The last date the message could display in the app.
              1. NotesIf you'd like the Popup to remain indefinitely, leave this field as Never.
          3. Days
            1. Select the day(s) you'd like the Pop-Up to display.
          4. From
            1. The first moment of the day(s) selected for the message to appear.
          5. To
            1. The last moment of the day(s) selected for the message to appear.
    3. When should the user see it? (Triggers)

      1. On App Open
        1. The Pop-Up will appear when a user launches the app for the first time that day. Choose from the following frequency options:
          1. Every time the user opens the app
          2. Once every 2 times the user opens the app
          3. Once every 3 times the user opens the app
          4. Once every 5 times the user opens the app
          5. Once every 8 times the user opens the app
          6. Once every 10 times the user opens the app




    4. LAST STEP

      1. When you're satisfied with the message content and there is at least one Trigger added, click Save at the bottom of the screen.

Removing Pop-Ups

There are two ways to remove Pop-Ups, with one being permanent and the other temporary:

Deleting A Popup (Permanent)

  1. In the TapWyse Admin Dashboard, click Pop-Ups.

  2. On the ensuing page, click the square to the left of the Pop-Up you'd like to delete, then the trash can that appears at the top right.


Removing Triggers (Temporary)

  1. In the TapWyse Admin Dashboard, click Pop-Ups.

  2. On the ensuing page, click the Pop-Up you'd like to edit.

  3. On the ensuing page, scroll down to Triggers and click the trash can next to all of the Triggers, then Confirm.
