This article will provide detail on the App Navigation portion of a TapWyse mobile app, which includes setup for both the Home Screen and Side Menu.
What's The Point?
The Home Screen and Side Menu are the two most viewed pages in a mobile app, as users must first navigate to them before viewing any other page. It is vital to ensure all of the main functionalities of the app are quickly accessible in the spirit of providing a first-class user experience. Follow the instructions in this article to set up your Home Screen and Side Menu for success.
- Log into your TapWyse Admin Dashboard.
- On the Quick Start page, click Set Up App Navigation.

- At the top-left of the ensuing page, click the green +,

- Choose from the following:

- Link To An App Page
- Direct the user to a predefined page in the app.
- Pages

- News Item

- Link To A URL
- Direct the user to a webpage housed within an in-app browser.

- Custom Folder
- Direct the user to a second level of options before ultimately directing them to a page.

- This option is outlined in detail in the next section.
What's A Folder?
Folders are a second level of options to present to a user, which will direct them to an eventual destination within the app. To add one, follow the instructions in the previous section and proceed to the below:
- Add a Button Label and click Save.
- On the ensuing page, click the green + below the Custom Page title to add your first item.
- A box will appear with the same items outlined in the previous section. For this example, we'll add a link to a Page. Insert the following:

- Image (Optional)
- App Page
- Pages Item
- Button Label
- Description (Optional)
- Once satisfied, click Save at the bottom of the list.

- A preview appears on the right. Repeat steps 1-4 in this list as necessary.
Now that the button has been created, it's time to add it to the Home Screen and/or Side Menu. Follow these steps to do so:
- Find the button in the list on the left-hand side of the page.

- Click the Side Menu and/or Home Screen icon(s) to add them in the previews on the right.

- You're now ready to move on to the final step, outlined in the next section:
- Find the button in the preview on the right side of the screen.

- Click and hold before dragging and dropping to the correct position.

- DONE!

- Log into your TapWyse Admin Dashboard.
- On the Quick Start page, click Homescreen.

- On the ensuing page, hover over the item in the preview on the right (Home Screen or Side Menu) and click the trash can icon that appears.

- DONE! This item will remain in the list on the left and can be reenabled anytime by reclicking the Side Menu and/or Home Screen icons within its square.
Home Screen Layouts
When designing the Home Screen for your app, you must first decide between two layouts. They are as follows:
Option 1: Background Image
Option number one is a Background Image, which looks like the photo at the top of this article. It consists of one background image and buttons that have a grey background.
Updating Layout From Tiles To Background Image
- Log into your TapWyse Admin Dashboard.
- Navigate to the App Onboarding module by clicking Basic Setup (left side of the page) --> App Onboarding.

- Click Home Screen & Colors at the top of the screen.

- On the ensuing page, click the toggle marked Background Image and then Save.

This change will take place immediately in your app (no formal update submission is necessary).
Option 2: Tiles
Option number two is the Tiles layout, which has a background photo for each Home Screen button and a white background for the rest of the page.
- Log into your TapWyse Admin Dashboard.
- Click the tile marked Home Screen.
- Select the button you'd like to edit.
- On the ensuing page, click Change image.
- Either select a picture from the menu that appears or click Or, upload your own image, then select a photo from your computer.
- Click Save.
This process will change the picture for only the button you selected in step 3. This change does NOT require an update to be submitted.
