How the Message Center Button (aka Messages, Alerts, Notifications) Works in the App

Before You Begin

Info
Make sure to have an adequate understanding of Push Messages by viewing our How Push Messages Work article.

What's The Point

When a Push Message is sent, users receive it on the lock screen of their device. When they tap on it, they are unable to view it again on the lock screen of their device. To combat this issue, TapWyse created the Message Center to provide a location for users to always find their Push Messages from the past 30 days, regardless of whether they interacted with it or not.
This feature also provides a location for users that chose to opt out of Push Messages to still be able to access the messages that have been sent.

Accessing the Message Center in the App

*Note, the Message Center button can be named anything you choose (ex. Messages, Notifications, Alerts, etc.)
  1. Open your app
  2. On the Home Screen, tap your Message Center button (this button may be named something different for you, i.e. Messages, Notifications, Alerts)

  3. The list of all Push Messages received over the past 30 days will appear

  4. If there is a Call To Action link (you directed the Push Message to go to a URL or area within the app (ex. Membership Page, Rewards Page, etc.) there will be a (>) on the message in the Message Center. This will allow the app user to be able to access the Call To Action even after the initial Push Message is sent.

Opting Into Push Messages

When a guest downloads the app they will have the chance to turn Push Messages on. If they do not turn them on right away they can always go the Setting of the device right from the Message Center in the app to allow their Notifications.

They can also update their permissions in the Settings of the app.
  1. Tap on the Profile Icon in the upper right hand corner of the Home Screen
  2. Tap on the Settings Cog on the Account page

  3. Turn the 'Enable Push Notifications' toggle on. This will lead the user to the Notification Settings in their device so they can Allow Notifications for the app
