Membership Gifting

Give customers an easy way to share your membership program with friends and family.

Overview

Membership Gifting allows customers to purchase memberships as gifts directly through your app.

Recipients can redeem their gift using a unique gift code and immediately gain access to all membership benefits, rewards, and perks associated with that membership for a set period of time. 

This feature is especially effective during the holiday season and other gift-giving occasions, helping introduce new customers to both your app and your membership programs - creating an additional revenue stream and increasing customer conversion into memberships.


Setting Up Membership Gifting

Step 1: Open Your Membership

  1. Log in to the App Manager
  2. Navigate to Memberships in the Customer Dashboard

  3. Select the membership you would like to enable gifting for

Step 2: Open the Gifts Tab

At the top of the membership page, select the Gifts tab.
This section contains:
  • Gift pricing options

  • Gift history

  • Gift purchase records

  • Gift Code Generator  


Step 3: Add a Gift Price

Click Add Gift Price.
Configure the following:
Gift Price
The amount the gift giver  will pay. Membership Duration
Choose how long the membership remains active after redemption for that price. 

Examples:

      • $20 = 1 month

      • $120 = 6 months

      • $240 = 12 months

Save the gift price when complete.

Step 4: Optional Availability Dates

You may choose to make gifting available only during a specific date range.
Examples:
  • Holiday promotions

  • Seasonal memberships

  • Limited-time campaigns

If no dates are entered, the gift option will remain available year-round.




Activating Gifting

Membership Gifting is automatically enabled as soon as at least one gift price is created.
Once enabled, customers will see the Give or Redeem Gift option within the Memberships section of the app.


Multiple Gift Options

You can create multiple gifting options for the same membership.

This allows customers to choose the gift option that best fits their budget.


Multiple Memberships

If you offer multiple memberships, gifting can be enabled for any or all of them.
Simply add gift pricing to each membership you would like customers to be able to gift.


Generating Gift Codes Manually

In addition to customer-purchased gifts, TapWyse allows breweries to generate gift codes directly from the manager.
This is a great option for:
  • Trivia night prizes

  • Raffle winners

  • Social media giveaways

  • Fundraising events

  • Staff rewards

  • Special promotions

When creating a gift code, you choose the membership and duration associated with the gift. Once generated, you can distribute the code however you'd like, including:

  • Email

  • Text message

  • Printed vouchers

  • Event prizes

Recipients redeem manually generated gift codes using the same redemption process as any other membership gift:

  1. Open the app

  2. Navigate to Memberships

  3. Select Give or Redeem Gift

  4. Tap Redeem Gift

  5. Enter the gift code

  6. Confirm redemption

Once redeemed, the membership is activated immediately and all associated membership benefits become available.

How to Generate Gift Codes Manually

  1. Expand the Gifts section using the ^ carrot 
  2. Click Generate Gift Codes
  3. Input Required Fields 
    1. Group Name: Use this to quickly identify all the gifts created for a group
    2. # to create:  Number of gift codes you plan on using for this group
    3. Duration: The length of time the gift code grants the recipient access to the membership 


  4. Share Codes With Recipients: You may decide to either deliver these codes in person using a hard copy gift card or electronically via an email. 

    1. You can use the Export button to create a spreadsheet of the created codes. This can be kept as a hard copy in the taproom and staff can give out codes from the list, or it can be used to email customers their code. 




    2. You can go back to the Gifts section to see generated codes, check Status, view buyer and recipient emails, verify redemption dates, and view Source.

Sharing a Gift

After purchasing a gift, customers can immediately share it.
The share option generates a message that includes:
  • A link to download the app

  • The gift code

  • Instructions for redeeming the gift

Customers also receive a confirmation email containing the same information.

Redeeming a Gift

When a gift is redeemed:
  • The membership is activated automatically
  • Membership rewards become available immediately

  • The customer gains access to all membership benefits

No additional setup is required.

Offer Multiple Gift Durations
Providing monthly, semi-annual, and annual gifting options gives customers more flexibility.
Promote Gifting During the Holidays
Membership gifting performs especially well during:
